Question:

I just started using soy curls. Any thoughts and recommendations?

— SUSAN SCHOP

Answer:

You know, soy curls are one of those things in the vegetarian world and plant-based world that have been around for a very long time. And you can use them in a huge variety of ways along with textured vegetable protein, all the new kind of things too that are with the, um, you know, like the, the crumbles, the, you know, meat crumbles that are fake meat. All of those things can be, uh, used in a huge variety of different ways. So you can use them for, you know, toppers on things. You can use 'em for taco meats and season them like tacos. You can, um, you know, like there's a huge variety of ways. So we would, uh, you know, you can put them into things like the, I was talking about the, um, shepherd's pie earlier. Soups another great thing to be able to put them into as well. If you're gonna do something like a soup, I would recommend seasoning them first as you're hydrating them. 'cause usually depending on the soy curl you're getting, you have to hydrate them first. So make sure to hydrate them, cook them off a little bit with the seasoning that you're gonna add them into. But very versatile product. Lots and lots of recipes out there. Um, not as many people use them now as they used to, which is interesting. But, um, you know, it's something that's been around in the plant-based world for a very long time.
